“A young detective in 1986, Dave Reichert had been working the case of the Green River killer night and day for years, and with at least 40 women dead and no promising leads, he decided to take Ted Bundy up on his offer of help.

Mr. Bundy, a native of nearby Tacoma who was on death row in Florida for a series of killings in the 1970’s, had written to Mr. Reichert after seeing the detective’s picture in articles about the Green River killer, named after the river south of here where the first 5 of 48 victims had been found.
