“Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.”  ― Mark Twain

American-Serial-Killers

Whether in print or on film, the examination into the darkest aspects of the human experience has fascinated scribes, scholars, scientists and the general public for centuries on end… This site has been established to facilitate in the discovery of free, full-length documentaries that deal with this dark reality of man…  and sometimes, woman.

BUILDING THE SITE

 …………………………………………………………………………

I first landed online, in the winter of 1999, when the Internet was still young, content was mostly text-based and download speeds were migraine-inducing at the best of times.

As the web grew in popularity and streaming video technology started to evolve and gain traction, the emergence of full-length documentaries started to fill the online video landscape of the time – Google Video, Veoh, Stage6 and a few others that I can’t honestly remember any more.

Eventually, Youtube unlocked their original 10 minute limit on video uploads, and that unleashed an upload avalanche that hasn’t slowed down yet.

People from all over the world were learning how to digitize all their dusty, VHS copies of rare documentaries, uploading them to various servers and for a documentary junkie like myself, the Internet suddenly became a wonderland of discovery.

I was hooked.

I would spend countless hours, finding, watching, downloading and marvelling at the immense collection of documentaries that I had stored on my hard-drives. The subject matter of the documentaries was eclectic, to say the least, but I quickly realized that I was slowly amassing a pretty large collection of ‘crime-related’ documentaries.

I thought that it would be awesome if a website existed that focused mainly on the darker side of the subject-matter pool of documentaries and organized all the videos links in one, convenient place.

Well, after I was abruptly fired one day by my micro-managing, hyper-sensitive, pimply-faced manager, I suddenly had the time available to build  it myself  🙂

Dark Documentaries is an AD-FREE, non-monetized website… Please Donate!

One thing I always hated as a web developer, was how quickly some webmasters were willing to destroy the basic usability of their own websites by plastering ads all over the place.

Any ad or pop-up advert window that you might come across while watching a documentary on www.darkdocumentaries.com, does NOT originate from this site. Some video hosting sites have ads included in their video embed codes and that is what you might see when you click to play a certain video.

Just Install AD BLOCK Plus for your browser of choice to eliminate this nuisance.

……………………………………………………………………………..

ALL the videos that are displayed on DARK DOCUMENTARIES are hosted elsewhere. They reside on the servers of popular video sharing sites like Youtube, DailyMotion, Archives.org, LiveLeakPutlocker (FireDrive), Sockshare, and many others …  Any & ALL copyright claim(s) should be made there.

  1. Hi there, re the BBC Madness in the Fast Lane documentary:
A Madness Shared by Two, is not only the true untold story about the lives of Sabina and Ursula Eriksson, alongside the murder of Glenn Hollinshead, based on a critique re-examination of the BBC’s Madness in the Fast Lane documentary that had 7 million viewers [with a conservative estimate of around a further 15 million people having since watched this film via the internet and on websites such as YouTube],glued to their TV screens watching the twin sisters propelling themselves into the fast lane of the oncoming traffic on the UK’s-M6 motorway, as Ursula manages to throw herself under the wheels of a 40ft articulated lorry travelling at 60mph, that seems to swallow her up and spit her lifeless looking body back out of its rear end. It is also the result of a thorough investigation into what might have really happened on those fateful days that led up to this tragic slaying of an innocent man. We challenge the “Official Storyline” and expose a ‘cover-up’ and what really occurred just hours before M6 dash, for it is here for the first time we expose the Eriksson sisters were “arrested” under the Mental Health Act, though this vital caught on film evidence was edited out of the original BBC films. This will come as a great surprise to many people who questioned; ‘…how was it possible Sabina could have been released from hospital after only five hours’ following their ‘suicide attempt’ on the M6? We also reveal that the coroner’s report shows that the injuries inflicted on Glenn, was done so by ‘two’ weapons, it’s always been believed “Sabina” used one, and that it’s highly likely there were more than one person who killed him and that Sabina could be totally innocent. Yet this obvious evidence seems to have been brushed under the carpet, or at the very least, it was never challenged. We explain how these twins were very likely embroiled in some kind of major drugs smuggling ring and that they had been under “Obbo” [police observation] prior to the M6 incident and was probably so for quite some period of time. As a result of our findings, legal action is now being sought and brought against the police and other related authoritative bodies by the Hollinshead family. Thank you. David Cann

  2. I’d like to see more on “The Cherry Street Massacre”, the horrific murders of Christopher Newsome and Channon Christian in Knoxville TN, 2006.

And the kidnapping, torture, and brutal murder of Ilan Halimi in Paris, 2006. There’s an hour long French documentary on the incident, but I don’t speak the language.

  3. Hi, I’m really interested and it’s nice to have a site with list of documentaries. Unfortunately, the same problem continues… subtitle / closed captions. Are there any ways u’re able to add in subtitles? (fyi – You Tube’s ‘captions’ a joke. Try turning it on and u’ll see). I’m deaf and still am in search for a documentary on crime (serial killers) that are captioned at least

I hope you’re able to help out.

    Many thanks 🙂

    • I’m glad you like the site but unfortunately the videos that are listed here have already been ‘rendered’ and uploaded to various video webhosts w/out any subtitles… I agree that the YouTube ‘captions’ option is horrible right now but it is improving daily. Maybe in only a couples of years, you’ll be able to fully enjoy every video on the web 🙂

    • I have thought about it… was hesitant at first cause there are already ‘forum’ related sites on the web that deal with this subject matter but if more people ask for it then I’ll definitely add one…. thanks for your kind words and for visiting the site 🙂

  4. Just want to say that I’m extremely grateful for this website! I hope with all my heart that it last a long, long time! Some of the documentaries on here (namely, the ones dealing with serial killers), I’ve never even heard of before, let alone seen.
As far as the idea of a forum goes, I agree with you, but I would like you to know that I would gladly participate in one.

Godspeed and keep this great website up!

  5. Does anyone know of any additional docs pertaining to the cult Aum Shinrikyo or their leader Aum Shinrikyo? As far as I know their are only two that have been produced, thanks.

  6. Really loving the website!! Its got a really good selection of documentaries on many serial killers, I’d love to see more documentaries on The ‘Moors Murders’ though
Also, for that one documentary you have on the Moors Murders it ‘Myra Hindley’ not ‘Mira Hindley’, Just a little change there 🙂

  7. I am addicted to this site, it’s amazing(!), but most of the videos aren’t showing up for me today. I click on a title and there’s no video, just the Leave a Reply, etc.

    =(

  8. Hi there! First of all I have to say, I just love your web-site, good job guys!
What I was wondering if you are interested in uploaders? I noticed that lots of material gets deleted due to copyright claim, so i thought maybe you are interested in giving people choice of sources where files can be hosted and if you need someone who can upload copies of files already present to different hostings, so as to add new material, i’m more than open to such thing. Have experience of loading over 10 000 hours of material to an online movie theater. Main interest in given situation is Serial Killers. So anyhow, please let me know! Looking forward working with you!
